Hello all, Kevin butler has met a guy that is interested in letting WMFC use his private airstrip for a possible new location for us. Kevin, Garland and myself visited the site this past sunday and it will be a nice place to fly. The owner has discussed some different things that he is going to do to make it right for WMFC. I would like to get some feedback on having the meeting at this possible site. I think everyone will like it because the sun will not be a factor and alot of fly-over space. If everyone agrees to having the meeting there , I will e-mail directions to everyone.
Thanks Chris

This past weekend we had a member loose his plane in the corn field at Morris Field. He did eventually get it back, but not without a lot of searching a hot corn field.
Seeing that this could continue to be a problem, below is a link to a Air Alert Flight Pack Monitor. This little device will emit a loud beep whenever the plane has had no throttle activity after a minute or if the TX is turned off. So this little thing would help locate a plane should it become lost in the corn or tobacco fields. They're sold at Tower Hobbies and some other places, but for $15.99 It could be quite nice should you have to go looking for your plane.

The July meeting will be held July 11 @ 2 PM @ Morris FIELD .
I have heard from several members about the normal meeting date falling on
the 4th of July. All that I heard from wanted to postpone the meeting for a
week due to guest coming to town or members going out of town.
All tables were moved today to Morris Field and the field was bush-hogged &
mowed, it is flight ready.
Olsen Field was also mowed today and can still be used to fly on until July
5 th,
If you have question or comments call or email
Have a great holiday !!!
See you at the field

Tara Duckworth said the ground breaking ceremony is next Wednesday for Olsen Field. We are all invited. The time is not set at this point. She says we can fly through the 28th unless she calls Garland with a change. She will also talk with the contractor and determine if there is a time during their work week (weekends?) when we can fly.

Club Members
I have been contacted by Wrightsville Beach Magazine and they want to do a profile
article on our club in their magazine. They will be at our meeting this Saturday
to do the interviews & take some pictures. Please try to attend this meeting
and bring all your airplanes. I think this is a great opportunity for us to
get some really good press & call attention to our club and the perile we
are in.
This magazine is widely circulated in many places, so who knows you & your
airplane may become world famous. And who knows there may be some doctor, lawyer
or land owner out there that may want to help us out.
See you Saturday

Hi guys and gals.. It apparently seems that our forum hosting company had a server crash and the forum has been down for a day or longer. I don't really know how long it was down because I decided to go out of town this weekend but at any rate, it's back up now and should be fine. If you had the forum saved in your browsers favorites, you'll need to resave it and delete the old one as the forum was saved to a different server. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Also something else new is the "Merchandise" button. This link will take you to Cafe' Press where you can buy club T-Shirts and other items with our club logo on it. Check it out!

What a great turnout today for the monthly club meeting and day of great flying. Warm temps, a little breezy, but not bad and lots of planes! It was wonderful to see everyone today. Tomorrow should be a tad bit warmer, but the winds may be up as well. WeatherUnderground is calling it at 1pm the temp to be 68 and SW winds at 9mph which actually doesn't sound that bad so if you missed it today come on out tomorrow. Below is a link to the forum and some pictures that I took today. You do not have to register to view anything, but you will need to register on the forum should you decide to post to it. The weather today was rather disappointing and not as nice as expected with the higher winds (25mph gusts) But a lot of people showed up anyway even though only a few decided to take off. It was very nice to see all of you today. I'd like to take a moment to mention for everyone to try and remember Don Helms as he is going in for a surgical procedure for his back. He should be fine but give a kind thought to him this week for a speedy recovery.
Tomorrow (Monday 2-2-09) may be a nice day to fly. Again according to WeatherUnderground, the weather prediction is: High temp of 59-60 degrees with 2-6mph winds out of the WSW. So if this holds true, tomorrow should be a fine day of flying. There are several of us planning on coming to the field tomorrow so come on out if you can. Call in sick, skip class, get out of your Honey Do Duties and come throw some sticks with us.

Hello fellow RC Modelers. It looks like tomorrow 2-1-09 Sunday is shaping up to be nice temp wise, but the winds may be a little up. WeatherUnderground calls for the winds to start off early at about 4-5mph increasing to 10mph around 1pm from the SW. This doesn't seem too bad and may be a great day to come and fly. I know the Superbowl is tomorrow but we must have our priorities in order and come fly. LOL. I'm looking forward to seeing a lot of you that haven't been in a while due to the weather.
Thanks,
WMFC/Rob

A couple of news items for today.
First: The weather tomorrow (Friday 1-23-09) is looking rather nice with warm temps (around 60) with WSW winds to 12mph after 1pm. I know several of us are planning on going to the field to get some stick time. It's been rather ccccold lately and I'm Jones'n for some stick time. So come on out to the field tomorrow, bring your plane (s) and get some sun and have fun.
Second: Below are a couple of links about batteries. The first one is from the RC Battery Clinic and covers the basics and has a FAQ section. The latter is a battery/ time calculator for the electric folks to determine the amount of time your Lipos should get. It can also be used to keep track of other battery time as well.

The President of our Club (Garland) is a wealth of information with motors/airframes/electronics and the internet. Below is a link to a site he sent me entitled "My Mission" where RC Modeler named Carl Bachhuber decided to design, build and fly every RC airplane that he ever liked. There are quite a few and he's still adding planes!. Most of them are giant scale with one having a 7 foot wingspan. This is a very nicely documented site with pictures and some with video. It's up to date as well with the latest entry from late '08. Check it out HERE
And seeing that were on the scale train of thought. Garland also sent this link to a website that has thousands and thousands of pictures of just about every plane you could think of which is interesting in itself, but could also be helpful if someone is looking for an actual picture of the aircraft they are building. Check that site out HERE

Garland sent me this link today from a company called Van Gilder Aviation that features a B-25. Pictures are excellent in both interest and quality with nice commentary. Check it out HERE
Garland also has quite a lot of planes for sale in our "For Sale" section of the forum. Some are new ARF's. Some used RTF minus your reciever. So if you're looking for a great plane at InSaNe prices.Click HERE to check them out. You do not have to register on the forum to view the pictures, but hey, while your there, might as well and join in on the fun!

I just checked the weather for Saturday. It looks like it will
be a nice day, around 60 and very light winds. If this forecast holds lets have
the meeting at the field and get some flying in.
The December meeting was held at Carolina BBQ and most of our membership was
at the field flying.
Come early, do some flying and the meeting will be @ 2 pm.
Hope to see all of you then

Garland sent me this link today about Local Chapter EAA 297 Kittyhawkers and what an interesting group they are. Great article and info. Click HERE to read.
Also it was nice afternoon to fly at Olsen Field. Several regular flyers were there. Garland, Shuford, myself, George, Gene, Lloyd and I'm sure I missed some but nice weather with light wind made for a great session. The weather doesn't look to good for the next couple of days for flying, but keep a check and come join us for some stick time.

Just as a reminder to all who fly at Olsen Field, members & guest. AMA membership for 2008 expired on 12-31-08!!!!
If you have not renewed your AMA membership you will need to
do so before flying at our club. The best way to do so is online
or direct phone call to the AMA.
If you bring or invite a guest please help our club monitor that they are current. If you bring guest who are just getting involved in our hobby and want to see if it is for them you must be in control of the airplane via a buddy box system. No handing off transmitters.
Today was a little slow at the field. The rain did hold off. Dana, George and
Shuford got some stick time. If the weather is good on Monday some of us are
going to try & get a few flights in. Hope to see you there.
Smooth Flights and Happy Landings

The road into Olsen Field was graded today. It is a much better
ride into the field and no mud holes. Many THANKS to Don Helms and Rod Smith
for all the hard work.
The flying was not all that great today due to the wind but Rob & myself
did get a few flights in.We are going to try again on Saturday and hope to see
some of you there.
There is no meeting this Saturday but it will be held Saturday week 1/10/09.
If the weather is good it will be held at the field and if not, Carolina BBQ.
I will send out an email to let everyone know.
